Most Services Restored to BPS Systems, Including 911 & 295-0011

The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) can now confirm that most services have been restored – including 911 and 295-0011 – after a power outage incident around 6am Wednesday, May 15th.

On initial inspection there does not appear to be any data loss and full system restoration is anticipated by Monday, May 20th.

However, technicians will continue to closely monitor the BPS data centre over the coming days to ensure system stability.

The BPS would like to sincerely thank the technical vendors and our staff for all their assistance – as well as the public, for their patience and cooperation, while the necessary repairs were made.

Upcoming Road Sobriety Checkpoints: May 23rd – 26th

The Bermuda Police Service would like to advise the public that the next series of road sobriety checkpoints (as specified in the Official Gazette Notice Wednesday, May 15th) will be conducted starting next Thursday, May 23rd.

The checkpoints will be in effect in Hamilton parish, Devonshire, Pembroke, Paget, Warwick and Southampton on Thursday, May 23rd, Friday, May 24th (Bermuda Day), Saturday, May 25th and Sunday, May 26th.

Thefts From Boats in the Foot of the Lane, Hamilton Harbour Area

The Bermuda Police Service is aware of thefts from vessels in the Foot of the Lane, Hamilton Harbour area recently and encourages members of the public with any information – or who may have seen any suspicious activity at that location – to call the Marine Police Unit on 247-1770.

Injured Male Motorcyclist Treated & Discharged After Sunday Crash

At last check this morning (May 16th) the 52 year old male motorcyclist injured in a single vehicle motorcycle crash that occurred around 4:20pm Sunday, May 12th at the north round-a-bout near Trimingham Road in Paget had been discharged from hospital, after initially receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit.

Inquiries continue and any witnesses that have not already come forward are still encouraged to call Constable Lakila Hart on the main police telephone number 295-0011.


All incidents are under investigation. Police are appealing to members of the public who have witnessed these incidents or may have information pertaining to them to contact their respective Police Station, Police Headquarters at 295-0011 or the confidential Crimestoppers Hotline on 1 (800) 623-8477.
