Fatal Collision on Somerset Road in Sandys Parish [Updated]

Around 9:50pm Thursday, November 9th police and first responders attended a reported serious collision in the Somerset Road, Scaur Hill Drive Sandys parish area, near the 'Lantana' property.

Initial information suggests that a male motorcyclist collided with a truck.

The rider was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance with serious injuries and sadly, was later pronounced dead.

Identification of the deceased is anticipated in due course pending notification of his next of kin.

The relevant police personnel are processing the scene and traffic diversions in the area remain in effect at this time.

A full investigation into this fatal collision, the 14th of 2017, is underway and any witnesses are urged to contact the Roads Policing Unit on 247-1788.

Update: 1:30am Friday, November 10th - Traffic diversions are no longer in effect on Somerset Road, Sandys parish near Lantana. The investigation into this fatal collision continues.
